The mission of the department is to support the professional, academic and personal development of students, to train English teachers who can think critically, apply current English teaching methods, have teaching knowledge and skills, have conscientious and moral.
Our Vision
The goal of our department is to educate teachers who have experience and knowledge to teach English language to students of all age groups, who follow national and international developments in the field of foreign language education, who are tolerant, patient, self-confident, high level of culture, respect cultural differences, and have moral teachers. In addition, through elective courses, students are given the opportunity to improve themselves in cultural and professional matters in their fields of interest. Our department offers students and faculty members the opportunity to get to know different languages and cultures by providing Erasmus agreements with various universities in Europe.
History
The Department of English Language Education within Balıkesir University Necatibey Faculty of Education offers quality education in the field of English teaching. Graduates who complete the undergraduate program can work as an English teacher in both the public and private sectors. In addition, those who want to pursue an academic career can apply to graduate programs. Graduates can be employed in different fields such as tourism, translation and private sector as well as in the education sector.

His vision is to raise educators who can understand and interpret socio-cultural events, protect historical and cultural values, and are successful in their profession.
Within the scope of the program, students take "Teaching Practice-1" and "Teaching Practice-2" courses in the 7th and 8th semesters to gain professional experience. In these courses, students gain teaching skills by performing activities such as observation and lecture in official educational institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. Teaching practices are carried out in educational institutions in the provincial center where the faculty is located.
The department also organizes various activities and student societies for students to improve their language skills. For example, the English Speaking Society (ESS), founded in 2020, organizes events such as poetry nights, discussion nights and game nights to improve students' speaking skills.
